BLQ ESC Software - Configure & Firmware Update Guide (T-Motor F60A MINI V2)

BLQ ESC Software - Configure & Firmware Update Guide (T-Motor F60A MINI V2)

When this applies

Use the BLQ upper computer software to change settings or update firmware on ESCs that run BLQ firmware instead of BLHeli or AM32. At present this applies to the T-Motor F60A MINI V2. T-Motor's manual also lists the V50A and V70A as supported, and more T-Motor and T-Hobby ESCs are expected to move to BLQ over time.

The usual tools do not work with these ESCs: Betaflight's BLHeli pass-through, esc-configurator.com, Bluejay and AM32 configurators will not detect a BLQ ESC.

Symptoms / question

  • You have a BLQ-firmware ESC (e.g. F60A MINI V2) and want to change its settings or update its firmware.
  • The ESC is not detected by Betaflight, esc-configurator.com, or any other ESC configurator.
  • You are not sure which software to use for a new T-Motor/T-Hobby ESC.

Answer / solution

1. Prepare your PC

Install the BLQ upper computer software on a Windows PC. Windows 7 or above is recommended, and a screen resolution of 1600x1000 or higher works best.

The software needs the CP210x USB-to-UART driver. If your PC already connects to Betaflight Configurator, the driver is already installed. If not, install it from Silicon Labs: https://www.silabs.com/developers/usb-to-uart-bridge-vcp-drivers

Remove the propellers before you start. The manufacturer recommends working with props off whenever the software is in use.

2. Connect and read the ESC

  1. Connect your flight controller to the PC over USB.
  2. Open the BLQ software, select the matching COM port, and click Connect.
  3. Select the number of ESCs (normally 4, in the same order they are wired to the flight controller).
  4. Wait about 5 seconds after connecting, then click Read Param.
  5. Wait for the "param read successfully" prompt. Parameter changes and firmware updates only work after a successful parameter read.

3. Change parameters

The home page shows all parameter values. Double-clicking any parameter jumps straight to its setting page. The main tabs and the manufacturer's recommended settings are:

  • Dynamic Parameters: Startup Power 60 to 100 (range 0 to 150), Motor Timing 15 (range 0 to 30).
  • Motor Driver Frequency Min 24 to 48 (range 16 to 128). Max Acceleration 0, which means no limit and is the recommended setting.
  • Synchronous Rectification ON, Demag Compensation LOW.
  • Signal Parameters: Brake On Stop ON. Rotor Direction Forward or Backward as needed. PWM in Max/Min can stay at their defaults (they only apply to PWM signal input).
  • Protection function: Low Speed Protect Adaptive, Stall Protection Normal.
  • Sound Function: Beacon Volume 50%, Beacon Delay 300, Startup Volume 50% (the defaults).

Some entries are placeholders in the current software version: Max Reverse Acceleration, Auto Telemetry, PWM in Middle and Max Speed Limit have no effect, and Temperature Limit is not activated yet.

After editing, click Write Param to save the changes to the ESC. A success prompt confirms the write. To back up a setup, click Save File; to apply a saved setup, choose Select File, pick the parameter file, then click Write Param.

4. Update firmware

  1. Click FirmWare Upgrade.
  2. Select the ESCs.
  3. Choose the ESC firmware file.
  4. Click Burn. The software shows upgrade progress and package count, then a success prompt when complete.

How to confirm it worked

  • Reading: the "param read successfully" prompt appears and parameter values show on the home page.
  • Writing: a success prompt appears after Write Param.
  • Firmware update: the progress display completes and a success prompt appears. Reconnect and read parameters again to check the ESC responds normally.
  • After any parameter change, check motor rotation direction before flying. Direction can change after a write, so recalibrate it first.

Common pitfalls

  • Read fails or is incomplete right after connecting. Wait about 5 seconds after connecting before clicking Read Param.
  • An incomplete read usually means the ESC did not enter boot mode: check the wiring, re-power, wait 5 seconds, and read again.
  • Software will not connect. Usually a missing CP210x driver or clicking too fast. Install the driver (link above) and retry.
  • Connection lost during a firmware update. Re-power the device, reconnect, and run the upgrade again. This software version has no upgrade interruption protection, so if the ESC still fails after a retry, contact us rather than repeating the flash.
  • Drone twitches when arming after writing parameters. A motor rotation direction is wrong. Recalibrate motor direction before flying.
  • Drone descends slowly at idle. Startup Power is set too high. Lower the value.
  • Startup Power set well above the recommended range increases burnout risk, especially in crashes or when using turtle mode. Keep it within 60 to 100 unless you have a specific reason.
  • G071 V50ASE V3 hardware must use the BLQ_V0105.exe version of the software for firmware upgrades. Check the hardware version shown in the software first.

Still having trouble?

If the steps above do not resolve it, please contact support with:

  • The ESC model and the hardware version shown in the BLQ software.
  • The BLQ software version you are using.
  • A screenshot of the error or the parameter screen.
  • What you had tried before the problem appeared.
