Caddx Vista air unit failed firmware update or overheating.

Caddx Vista air unit failed firmware update or overheating.

As mentioned in the Vista manual, it is important to ensure proper cooling/airflow over your air unit when performing a firmware update.  Failing to do this can damage the air unit.  During a firmware update the automatic power management functionality does not work to regulate the head on the module.

Firmware Update got stuck at 95%, now the module is not detected by DJI Assistant.

If you have tried to update your Vista air unit and found that the firmware update failed at around 95%, this is usually due to insufficient cooling during the update process.  If this happens there is a possibility  that you can still recover the module.  If the LED's on the vista are still bright red/green then it is likely the module has not been damaged so you could try to recover it using the steps below.
  1. Please wait for the unit to cool down fully to room temperature and try to update the firmware again, but make sure you have very good amount of cool airflow of the air unit using a fan.
  2. Double check you are using a high quality USB cable when updating

What to do if you have a damaged vista air unit

If the damage was caused due to overheating, this is not something covered under warranty.  However there are a few options for repair/replacements.
  1. You can order just the full air unit module.  When this arrives you just need to reconnect your camera and hook it up to your flight controller.
  2. You can order just the vista air unit core pcb, this is much cheaper than ordering a full vista module (around $30-50 USD), but will be shipped directly from Caddx.  This will require you to mount it onto your vista air unit module stack yourself (no soldering required).  This is only suggested if you have experience and are comfortable with handling and working with electronics.  If you want this option please get in touch with us so we can arrange this for you.
  3. If you would like us to make the repair for you, please get in touch with us so we can book this for you, please note this is a chargeable service in addition to any require replacement parts, find out more here
