How to Unbrick an ExpressLRS (ERLS) Reciever (Solid LED on ELRS receiver)
If you have managed to brick your expressLRS receiver due to a failed firmware update do not worry, its a straightforward procedure to get this recovered. You can tell your RX has been bricked as it will have a solid LED
The video below will go through the process on how to unbrick your RX. The main thing you will need to do is is to find the boot pins on your receiver. This can be found by looking up the pinout of your receiver (usually on our product page or on the manufacturers website)
Once done, remember to remove any solder bridge over the boot pad and the RX should work again!
Types of MCU on ELRS receivers
There are two main classes of receivers. STM32 based and ESP8285 based. If you’re not sure, you probably have an ESP8285 based RX. The main difference is that the STM32 RX’s don’t have WiFi.
Now, ALL the ESP8285 based RX’s have a factory installed bootloader onboard which CANNOT be damaged or tampered with. You can completely screw up the upgrade and always get it back using this default bootloader.
