Ordering from EU, what extra fees or import VAT do I pay?

What import and customs fees will I pay for my order? (Brexit Information)

For most orders delivered outside the UK, destination VAT and any applicable import duties are calculated and collected at checkout, and the parcel is sent Delivered Duty Paid (DDP). In these cases there should normally be nothing to pay on delivery. If taxes or duties were not collected at checkout, your local Government may charge import VAT when the order is delivered.  The video below from DHL gives a brief overview of the process.

What is the cost of the product?

If you are ordering from outside the UK, you will not pay any UK VAT when placing an order.  This means that the price you pay will be the price on our website shown as ex VAT.  This will be calculated automatically during checkout once you enter the delivery address outside the UK.

How much will I pay?

If your order was not sent Delivered Duty Paid, additional import charges and Value Added Tax (VAT) apply when you buy from outside the UK.  The amount you pay will depend on the value of the items and where the product is manufactured.  We cannot tell you the exact amount as this is dependant on the tariff terms of your country.  However as a rough guide, you can expect to pay around 20% VAT (or the VAT rate of your country), plus a courier customs clearance handling charge (from 5-15 Euros).  Your checkout total is the best guide for whether fees were collected on your order.

How do I pay customs fees?

This only applies where taxes or duties were not collected at checkout.  The shipping company will contact you (usually via sms, or email) and provide you with a payment link that you can follow to make the customs fee payment.
Please be aware of phishing scams when making customs payments to make sure it is a legitimate website and is actually for your shipment.  You can verify the tracking number based on the one we provide you when we ship your order.  For more information on phishing scams and how to avoid them, please read this guide
Please keep an eye on tracking information as if you have not received any payment request we suggest you get into touch with the postal company or courier to arrange payment as soon as possible.  This can happen if you do not provide correct contact details when placing the order.  Failure to pay any customs fees will result in the parcel being returned back to us, where on receipt we will issue a refund minus any return processing fees we incur.

Are customs fees refunded if I return a product?

While we are not able to issue a refund for any import related fees, within the EU you are able to reclaim the fees you paid back from your courier or postal service by contacting them and showing them proof of postage that the item has been sent back to us (or exported outside of the EU).  For more information please see our returns policy.
